We had planned a 3 month window in which to change PMS systems to Optix. Our previous supplier decided they would threaten to cut us off over a bank holiday weekend. The team at Optix, sorted data transfer and had us up and running and trained enough to work within 3 days.
Having now used the Read more system for less than 40 days, it is already like a good friend. What we don't know, support sort quickly and the system is so intuitive, you can generally work it out.
As for the business intelligence, we have barely scratched the surface, but we know we are empowered"

Being able to have a global look at all your appointment diaries in all of your stores at the click of a button when confronted by a patient wanting to be seen that day is invaluable. Sending electronic dispensing orders could not be easier. Most importantly having the ability to log in manually when you lose internet connection gives peace of mind that you will never be left in a position that you are unable to serve your patient. Trevor and the team are a great support and with the Optix user group yearly conference you are able to influence the way the system is developed.

Having used four different software systems over several years working for other practices I had a fair idea what I wanted and did not want for my new practice. I had a list of my needs and what I wanted from a computer system. Something that I did not have to add expensive modules on to when I Read more decided I needed them or could afford them but a management system that would do everything I wanted to from the start. A computer system that helped me make sense of the information I was gathering and that did not make my life difficult. A company that respected me as a user and did not patronise me as if I did not know what I was talking about.
I did all the research and there was no contest, Optix definitely ticked the most boxes by a long way. - it was the clear winner and in the end the obvious and natural choice. Everyone gets the whole system for one price and it is regularly upgraded with input to developments and improvements from the users. It is an intuitive system and having trained staff on other software that I realised was particularly valuable. The learning curve is eased by the subtle familiarity of the screen layout.
BI - so much useful information that we are learning how to make work for us as we explore it further. Reports we think we need, did not realise we needed and may one day need.
Support - I cannot say enough in praise of the support team. The best thing is we do not have to phone them too often as problems are not a big feature of our weekly routine. We are reassured, however, that they are always there and so when we do stupid things, or even if the computer does it, they are gracious and helpful and get it sorted.
For those who like computers there is lots to explore, for those who see them as a necessary evil there is a simpler functionality that will appeal.
You are supposed to learn something new every day and Optix continues to teach us daily so we can gradually aspire to exploiting its full potential, which is immense.
